<li>It is normal for people to extend an invitation to their home or family function ever after having met just a couple of times. It is a sign of hospitality</li>
<li>It is common to offer guests water and then some other refreshments when you visit their  homes</li>
<li>Footwear is left outside the home before entering. Footwear is not allowed into places of worships like temples</li>
<li>It is common to eat with hands. However if it makes you uncomfortable it is okay to request for a spoon.</li>
<li>The joint family system still prevails in India. It is common for parents to live with their grown up children and their families. Family bonding is very strong and great importance is given to the elders of the family</li>
<li>A majority of the marriages in India are Arranged marriages, where the marital partners are chosen by parents, community elders, matchmakers in an effort to guide young people find the right person to marry.</li>
